Holistic Birth Doula Care

"I do not care what kind of birth you have… a home birth, a scheduled cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices, and that you were respected." - January Harshe, Birth Without Fear

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m so excited for you and welcome the opportunity to work with you and your family during this wonderful time. Whether you’re due next month or are barely 20 weeks, debating a birth center, home, or hospital birth, you’re here for a reason. I’d love to tell you more about what it’s like working with me.

P.S., check out my placenta encapsulation and childbirth education services too!

Why hire a birth doula?

For lots of birthing people, pregnancy and childbirth are completely foreign and scary. Our society has done a really good job making us think it’s a terrifying event. I’m here to help combat that! Having a doula by your side throughout the entire process not only helps better prepare you for the “big day,” but it also helps you navigate the unknown nature of birth. Between medical terminology and hospital policies and procedures, a doula is the perfect sidekick to have by your side as you cross uncharted waters. Your body was made for this, and above all, I want to help you find your strength and groove as you welcome the newest addition to your family.

Ayurvedic postpartum care

On the postpartum side, I work with a team of doulas, led by Amber Pearson, as an Ayurvedic postpartum care practitioner. I am trained in Ayurveda practices in the postpartum period to help heal the body after birth. Ayurveda is a life science from India, which has been around for thousands of years and offers a wealth of knowledge for families after birth. Specifically, many women have body pain, constipation, gas, sleep loss, hormone fluctuation, digestion problems, and can go to extreme postpartum depression. This is common, but preventable with Ayurvedic tools, including Ayurvedic cooking! I support parents with a 6-week regimen after birth to help with balancing the hormones, deep connection with baby, digestion, physical strength, milk supply, and more! If you're interested in learning more, contact me here and check the box that you're interested in Ayurvedic postpartum care.

“Katelyn is fantastic—we feel so fortunate to have had her by our side as first-time parents. In our pre-pregnancy workshops and check-ins, Katelyn and her team offered judgement-free information and guidance that helped us feel empowered and open to whatever our birth experience would bring. When the day arrived, the warmth and calm that Katelyn brought to the room was palpable. She supported our teamwork as a couple, offered just the right suggestions (and counter pressure!) at just the right time, worked seamlessly with the hospital staff, and somehow took some pretty amazing pictures of the birth while she was at it. Thank you Katelyn for helping us welcome our son into the world!”
